Seeing the recent research published about the weaving that was part of Thomas Clarkson’s chest was really inspiring, and I hope to link further to the work in the chest at the museum with practical workshops at the Hub, in weaving, spinning and dyeing.
It was fantastic to welcome Mayor Dr Nik Johnson and other supporters of the project to the Hub. We gave a couple of speeches, showed everyone the model from Peckover House volunteers and had a quick tour of the buildings. The best part though, was when everyone had a chance to chat, making it a real community event, bringing together people who have supported us to get this far, and are working with us to create the Hub for the town.
We’ve been working on the Studio space, getting it ready for hiring to community groups, support organisations and to run projects from ourselves – talks, activities, classes. We have lots of ideas, get in touch if you have a need of a central space to …
